Notecards

You are invited to listen to music by Helen's friends while you browse through the notecard scenes. Go to the music room, select a song, then return to this page. If there is network congestion, there may be lapses in the music. If that happens, either be extremely patient or play music off of your own CD's or savor the silence (if there is such a thing at your desk with the whir of the computer fan and clicking of the keyboard.) The music files have been prepared for a 28K modem, and the speed would seem to work for most computers.

The notecards:
Each notecard consists of folded, high quality, heavy, linen paper that measures 5x7 inches and is embossed with my name and a simple inset box for a 3 1/2 x 5 inch color photo. The notecards are hand-assembled and come with envelopes made of matching linen paper. If requested, the notecards can be autographed and/or packaged in cellophane sleeves or in gift boxes. Click here to view a reasonable facsimile sample of the notecard format.

Time for a cup of tea: Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, it may take awhile for all the photos on a gallery page to show up on your monitor. So be patient, make a cup of tea or other favorite beverage, then come back and enjoy the scenes at your leisure.
Enlargements:
You may custom order enlargements of these scenes. The common sizes are 6x9, 8x12, and 12x16 inches. We can have the matting done at the Frame Shop in Ames using a signed, photo white mat or deliver your photographs unmatted. Let us know your photo needs, and we will help you make the right choice and quote a price.
Calendars:
You can also get calendars. Helen's first edition of calendars was for 2004, when she made several versions, some with color photography and others with black and white photography. I have shifted my focus and will produce only a few calendars each year. Check them out, and feel free to contact us regarding your suggestions for future calendars.
Gift certificates:
These cards and enlargements make excellent gifts that friends, colleagues, or relatives can use for correspondence or to display as fine art. If you would like a gift certificate, go to the gift certificate order form. If you are daring, you could select the images you think would make the best gift; however, the advantage of this web site is that the recipients of your gifts could come to the show room and select the images that appeal most to them. Go to: gift certificate order form.
Notecard stock available for making your own cards:
We have generic notecard stock and envelopes that you may order for making your own photo cards (45 cents per card with envelope). The generic forms are identical in all respects to my personalized cards, except there is no name on them and the embossed box goes completely around the photo. Click here to view a sample of the generic card and to find a link for ordering a sample packet. Click here to order larger quantities of cards and envelopes.
Black and white photo notecards available:
We also have some black and white photo notecards that were printed on high quality, firm paper in the early 1990s. Originally, there were a total of six images in the set, but the one of the cemetery at Old Rolfe (Iowa) has been sold out. For a limited time, these black and white notecards (all are images from rural Iowa) will be available for a special price of $1.00 apiece plus postage.

Order fulfillment:
Ours is a small business with one staff person who is a generalist who doesn't devote herself full-time to filling notecard orders. Also, we don't keep huge inventories of photos on hand but go to Pyle Photo (an excellent family-owned photo-finisher in Ames) when we need to restock prints. The most efficient system for us is to accumulate orders for a month then take the time to focus on getting them assembled and mailed. However, there are times when we can act more promptly, and if you need immediate attention, please say so on your order.
