Lonna Nachtigal

The graphic designs on these UUFA food and agriculture pages were created by Lonna Nachtigal and used with her permission. She is a graphic designer, musician, and farmer. She lives and raises food with her partner, Joe Lynch, on their Onion Creek Farm northwest of Ames.
In the springtime, Lonna starts plants in her greenhouse and sells them via Wheatsfield Cooperative in Ames. She will also start plants by custom arrangement for individual customers. During the growing season, she sells awesome tomatoes, garlic, herbs, eggs and other produce from a porch on Hodge Street on Saturdays.
She plays the dulcimer (Joe plays the squeeze box) and other musical instruments and calls contra dances. Often she can be found leading dances at the Central Iowa Barn Dances that are held one Saturday per month during the academic year at the Wesley Annex in Ames.

Lonna also has her studio at Onion Creek Farm and produces LonnaCards, which are notecards produced on heavy paper that is folded once for a finished width of 4 1/4 inches and length of 5 1/2 inches high. The interior is blank for you to write your own message. If interested in purchasing some cards or finding out more about Lonna and her work, you may:
